I'm personally not hyped at all after the recent "gameplay" reveal, so I'll wait a few weeks after release and do some research.Last Updated: Ap| Reading Time: 2 minutes ![]() I still haven't played or found an open world game that truly excels and is worthy of the praise the fans so generously give. at least there were no coherent combat footage in this title, which usually is a huge red flag because the devs try to cover something. ![]() Gameplay is still more important to me and I can safely say that I'm not looking forward to this. it's incredibly tacky, like watching an extravagant and self-indulgent fool turn themselves into a peacock but art direction and graphics are the least of my worries for any game. With that said, no I don't like the art direction at all. that's actually an understatement since I own the game on mobile and usually whenever I'm traveling, play it again. Netflix anime banner doesn't have to be a bad thing □□♂️ At least there's some originality to it, whereas so many other developers, indie or otherwise, stick to rather boring realistic graphics and generic art direction. So far, I can say I like the art style and the premise. It's hard to tell whether HLB will lack a soul or if its trend-chasing belongs in a genuinely fun package. Heck, Hopoo also moved on from pixel art fairly quickly (took them two games, but still) and their transition into 3D was phenomenal. It surprised me that they broke off from pixel art so quickly, but it was only a matter of time. Best money I never spent for 30h of BOTW-esque fun. ![]() Genshin Impact itself is a lot of fun the first time you play it, when you're able to explore to your heart's content whilst ignoring the gacha stuff. I see nothing wrong with HLB despite its seemingly obvious inspirations. If HLB gets half as good, it's going to be a pretty good game. It has motivating gameplay and a nice story. Hyper Light Drifter was over after 10-15 hours - and so was the fun.įor me, a perfect example of a really good rougelite is Hades. If the gameplay is right, you can have almost endless fun. But one that I welcome, because you can generate a lot more playing time with it. Of course, a rougelite is a new approach. When I look at the gameplay of the newly released trailer, the old gameplay has been translated into the third dimension quite well. Today's Zelda games also have a comic look - this style is simply more timeless and most games still look good years later. Although dashing makes it much faster than a Soulslike - that's going in a slightly different direction.Īs is well known, Zelda also made the leap to a 3D game in its life cycle. At its core, HLD was a mixture of Soulslike and an old school Zelda. Having played through Hyper Light Drifter multiple times, I can say I'm looking forward to Breaker. ![]()
